Hello fashionistas (or fashionistos if the case may be).
As a quasi-hippy-liberal college student (that attends USC, an oxymoron), I wanted to take the opportunity to talk a little more about Ecouterre, a site that appeals to both my inner eco hippy and outer LA hipster.
Ecouterre is a fashionably and environmentally responsible site that promotes the sustainable fashion, from manufacture to retail. Additionally, their articles span from the analytic studies at MIT (plumping up your mind grapes) to the everyday adjustments you can make in your own life. They look for the very best of the eco world, and provide a great resource for those ecologically responsible, fashion forward readers out there. If you haven’t looked yet, check it out!
As you should also know, we’re co-sponsoring a giveaway with them for a Matt&Nat handbag (eco-friendly without compromising fashion). Sign up here

We just finished up the photoshoot for English Laundry… Johnny and I worked with our photographer, Sean; our makeup artist, Caitlin; and the model, Rocky. Johnny gave the shoot a southern edge, which lead to lots of metaphors about Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. His famous directional quote of the day was “Pretend you’ve been running for the past hour… through a cornfield.” If that isn’t loaded with inspiration and thoughts of sipping sweet tea on the veranda, I don’t know what is.
After arming Rocky with cuffed jeans and Johnny’s own straw fedora, the crew got to work on the shots. Sean just got a fancy new light that is ginormous, which creates some really stunning effects on the shot and the clothes.
Afterwards, we shot some footage of Cailtin and Rocky, to be uploaded and posted soon! Caitlin is going to be our newest Editorialist, offering makeup tips and tricks via her own series of tutorials. Keep a look out for her posts, under the category “Tutorials”!
The English Laundry sale begins 7/29 @ 7am… click here to preview and check it out.
About the Brand:
Christopher Wicks, owner and designer of English Laundry, was born a child of the sixties in Manchester, England. His childhood pastime of sketching shirts, shoes, and guitars became a life-long career in designing men’s and women’s apparel. At 22 years old, Chris designed men’s formal shirts for one of England’s largest gentlemen’s shirt manufacturers. He went on to design for such sportswear brands as LA Gear, Ocean Pacific and Hang Ten.
The English Laundry and English Rose designs reflect his upbringing in the UK. You will see references to his home town of Manchester as well as English influences – Mods, Rocker’s, and of course Soccer. Christopher Wicks has also successfully licensed the English Laundry brand for leather goods, accessories, ties and scarves, suits, luxury watches, outerwear and fragrances.
